5 Ways To Burn Calories Without Going To The Gym

Let me give you 5 ways to burn calories without actually going to the gym. I know working out isn’t exactly fun for everybody, but you can still burn calories without doing it! We all have the ability to be active in some way, shape or form. I am going to give you some ideas that you can do to change your sedentary lifestyle into an active one.

1. Walking

Walking is one of the most efficient ways to burn calories. You can walk anywhere too, and that’s the beauty of it. Whether it be your neighborhood, your yard, a nearby park, or with your dog, you can make it happen. A brisk walk will burn calories and elevate your heart rate!

If you take less than 5,000 steps a day you are considered sedentary. If you take at least 10,000 steps a day, you are considered active. Keep that in mind! You can track your steps on your iPhone and an apple watch of you have one.

2. Opening Your Garage

Have a garage? Do you use your garage door opener to open it? Well, STOP! If you want to be more active (which I assume you do if you’re reading this) than get out of your car and go open it yourself! This is an easy way to make your sedentary life way more active. It seems silly yes, but it’s the active way of doing it


3. Take your dog to the bathroom

We get used to just opening our doors and letting our dogs out to use the restrooms on their own. Especially if your yard is fenced in. Well instead of doing that and going back to sit on the couch, go out with them! Let them use the restroom and then play with them. Throw a ball, play tug of war, run around with them…anything! By doing this you’re burning more calories and you’re not even at a gym!

4. Take the stairs

Another easy way to be more active and burn calories is to take the stairs! Take the stairs instead of the elevator if given the option. This is an easy and common way to burn calories and get those steps in. Stairs are no joke. They elevate your heart so you get that heart pumpin’.

5. Skip The Drive-Thru

Lastly, another easy to way to be active! Skip the drive thru and go inside to get your food or drink! This is a very easy fix that again, most people don’t even realize. Get off your booty and get out of you car!

Everything is made so easy for us now a days that we become lazy and way less active. Don’t let out modern world be the reason you aren’t active! These are five easy ways you can begin an active lifestyle without going to the gym!
