Crispy Korean Chicken Wings (Air Fryer, Double-Fried, Sweet & Spicy)
Korean Chicken Wings
If you are looking for chicken wings that are sweet, spicy, salty, with a crispy outside due to a double fry, and tender inside, these are the wings for you!
Initially I purchased an 8-pack of chicken wings, thinking we would have 2-3 each and be good. Oh no. We ALL wanted seconds, and thirds. We are making this recipe again in the next week and I bought two of the 8-packs. I thought these would be too spicy for me since it uses gochujang (which is actually starting to become one of my favorite ingredients!) but nope, perfect spice, perfect saltiness, perfect amount of crisp to tender.
• Difficulty Level: Intermediate
• Serving size: 3 servings
• Total cook time: Less than 30 minutes
• Family friendly: YES! My entire family wanted seconds and thirds
Why You Will Love These Korean Chicken Wings
These may seem like your average wings, but they aren't at ALL. They are double fried in the Air fryer and then dipped in this sweet and hot sauce. The crispiness of the chicken soaks in all of the sauce and you will not want to stop eating them.
The sauce combines gochujang with ketchup, brown sugar, honey and seasonings so it's extremely balanced in flavor.
Jace rated these a 9/10 and, surprisingly, I rated them a 10/10. Kevin had plain wings and rated them an 8/10 for plain. I would definitely recommend adding the sauce. I doubled the sauce and it was perfect for 7 wings.
What makes this recipe different?
Having a double fry for sure made this chicken wing recipe different. It made the chicken wings extra extra crispy.
If you don't want messy hands, you may want to switch to another recipe. It's so messy, you will want to lick your fingers (the sauce is THAT good!) and we all said we could have 1-2 more servings.
Also, I made sure that every week had a good amount of sauce. Let it marinate, top with green onions or dip in your favorite sauce and enjoy!
Inspiration
This recipe was inspired by I Am a Food Blog. I doubled the sauce from the original recipe and I used garlic powder and ground ginger instead of minced garlic and ginger.
I was also inspired by this recipe because I was looking for an air fryer recipe instead of an oven-baked recipe. Our oven is currently out of commission (plus, we use the air fryer way more anyway) so this recipe was PERFECT.

How to Store and Reheat Chicken Wings
You can store chicken wings in an airtight container and keep in the fridge for 3-4 days. Reheat in the Air Fryer for best results.
Adjust to Your Liking
• For an even spicier flavor palette, you can add more gochujang or add red pepper flakes to the sauce
• If you are feeding more than two people, I suggest doubling the chicken wings and the sauce
• Feel free to top with sesame seeds or green onions for an added touch

How to Make Korean Chicken Wings (Step-by-Step)
✓ Step #1 Coat the chicken wings
Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees.
In a medium-sized bowl, coat the chicken wings with olive oil, pepper, and cornstarch. Set aside.
✓ Step #2 Air fry the chicken wings
Coat the air fryer with PAM or a cooking spray and add the chicken wings in a single layer. Cook at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. While the wings are cooking, make the sauce below.
The wings should come out looking crispy.
In a small pot over medium heat, add the ketchup, gochujang, honey, brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, ground ginger and garlic powder.
From here, you can eat the wings by themselves or at the sauce we just made. One by one, add the wings into the sauce and make sure they are all coated evenly.
