Steak Eggrolls Recipe

My household loves steak and loves egg rolls, so why not combine them together? Although I've tried many different egg rolls in my 40 years, I don't think I have ever had steak eggrolls.

This recipe used 8 simple ingredients - most I already had in my pantry - including onion powder, garlic powder, vegetable oil, Worcestershire sauce and soy sauce. Crunchy, delicious, savory, tangy, you will be wanting and asking for more!

Fried Steak Egg rolls laid out on a white plate, ready to serve with a chili sauce.

• Difficulty Level: Easy
• Yield: Makes 4 egg rolls (we had 2 each)
• Family friendly: YES! My teen and I ate all of them in one sitting!
• Rating: 9/10 and would eat them again
• Total cook time: 15-20 minutes
- Cooking steak: 6–8 minutes
- Heating oil: ~4–5 minutes
- Frying egg rolls: ~6 minutes
• Serving suggestions: Serve with a side of Sweet Chili sauce. You can also dip in a ranch dressing, queso sauce, honey mustard, or ketchup

What Makes This Recipe Unique

This recipe is unique due to its sauces and seasonings added directly to the steak before rolling, giving each bite a tangy, salty flavor. Unlike traditional egg rolls, these contain no cabbage or slaw. I adapted them specifically to my son’s taste preferences while keeping the flavor bold and savory.

What Inspired This Recipe

We love egg rolls and I don't make them often, so when I saw this recipe from Just a Pinch, I decided to try it out. We adjusted the recipe to our liking by removing the slaw, using garlic powder instead of diced garlic, using onion powder instead of diced onion, and eliminated salt. This was basically flavorful steak in an eggroll.

Keep oil at medium heat and avoid overcrowding the pan to ensure even cooking and crisp egg rolls without burning.

How to Make Steak Egg Rolls

✓ Step #1: Cook your steak - In a frying pan, add the steak pieces, garlic powder and onion powder and cook about 4-5 minutes on medium-high on the stove.

✓ Step #2: Add in sauces - Add in Worcestershire and soy sauce and cook for another 2-4 minutes or until cooked all the way through and browned. Move to a plate.

✓  Step #3: Start making the egg rolls – Place one egg roll wrapper on a plate or pan and form a diamond shape, having one of the corners pointed towards you. Add the steak mixture to the middle of the wrapper.

✓  Step #4: Fold the egg roll wrapper like an envelope - Add water to each of the four corners - just a tiny bit with your finger. Pull the corner facing you up and have it lay flat in the middle. Bring the other two corners in, one at a time, so it folds like an envelope.

✓  Step #5: Roll the egg rolls -  Starting from the bottom, roll the entire wrapper upward until you have formed the egg roll. Do the same process for all. We made four of them since there was only two of us and this was enough for us.

✓  Step #6: Fry the egg roll: In a frying pan, add 4-5 cups of vegetable oil and let it sit on medium heat for about 4-5 minutes. Add water to your fingers and flick the water. Once it starts to sizzle, it's ready to go. Add each egg roll in the frying pan, one at a time, and fry on each side 2-3 minutes. Remove from pan and add to a plate. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce!

How To Store
Add leftovers to an airtight, sealed container, and store in the fridge for 3-4 days. Reheat them on the stove or in the air fryer for 3-4 minutes or until warm.
